Equalizers + Digital Guardians, this is exactly why I ask questions and request records from the source!
When I saw the viral story about Nevada and the Winter Park youth soccer program, my first question was: What were police told that made them come out there?
While I was requesting records, a photo of the wrong person was circulating online. Then someone questioned the screenshot I pulled from the actual body camera footage because it didn’t match the picture they had already seen.
Y’all. That is how misinformation starts competing with the source. 👀
In this video, I walk through that mix-up, the creator’s apology, and a discrepancy between the name reported in news coverage and the caller’s name listed in the police report that still needs clarification.
I appreciate the TikTok creator acknowledging the mistake. But…..an apology doesn’t automatically reach everyone who saw the original post. We have a responsibility to verify before attaching somebody’s face to a viral accusation.
Your support helps make room for this work: requesting records, reviewing footage, comparing sources, and asking the follow-up questions.

Watch the video and tell me: Have you ever shared something and later found out it was wrong? What did you do to correct it?
