Since leaving Hillsborough County Public Schools, I’ve poured my heart into Teaching for the Culture—an organization built to teach, empower, advocate, coach, and heal. I never thought I’d have to fight for what I built. I never imagined I’d be defending a mission I sacrificed so much for. And yet, here I am—protecting Teaching for the Culture with everything I’ve got.

After pouring over $10,000 into legal fees, after sending a cease and desist, after proving our rightful claim…I’m still here, battling a system that makes justice feel like an uphill climb. Shauna Brown, Founder of Teach for the Culture filed to have our trademark canceled after knowing we had it first. And in this moment? Whew… I am feeling all the emotions. Tired, frustrated, drained, and yet, still hopeful in spite of it all!

But here’s the thing about ING—it means I’m still moving. Still fighting. Still standing. Still believing that justice will prevail.

I won’t sugarcoat it—this battle has taken a toll on my mental and physical health. I was even hospitalized because of it. I have to be mindful of my stress levels and heart rate. Dealing with heart failure has been a challenge, but, I’ve come too far to stop now. Teaching for the Culture is more than a name; it’s a mission, a movement, a force. And I will not let it be taken.

Whether it’s donating, sharing, or simply covering this in prayer, I am leaning on my village right now. Because no matter what?
